Rey & Lynn Sosa
It all started about 28 years ago on Hollywood Blvd with a long first kiss at a red light, that went to green, then to yellow....red.... and back to green again before we were disrupted by a horn behind us and a shout to get going. We keep a traffic light in our bedroom to this day as a reminder to carpe diem!! No, no, no....just kidding!! But really, the first word that comes to mind to describe our relationship is “stability”. There are normal ups and downs, but no major swings in the general flow of our marriage or the trust in who we are at the core. The person we fell in love with back then is still in there (slightly evolved) in the person we are with today.
We think in common terms. We have totally different styles of handling situations, but the same moral thread exists underneath it all. We’ve come to recognize the need for both “styles” and when to apply each as challenges have presented themselves.
We both have deep work ethics and are not afraid to get our hands dirty, never forgetting how we started out broke and were just as happy then as we are today without the financial stresses of our younger selves.
We each have a good emotional radar on the other person’s moods and feelings. There are times to step in and try to help and there are times to just back away. (Far faaarrrr away. As in PLUTO!) Neither one of us is able to function if there is an outstanding issue between us. We cannot smile and fake it, so it has to be worked out ASAP.
From the very first date, we have had each others back. Even if we can’t understand one another’s actions, we both have confidence in the other person’s intentions, and that they meant to do good. We respect the opinions of each other above all others.
This isn’t much of a love story, but kind of a recipe that keeps our personal love story going.
