Having lived for almost eight decades I have come to realize that love has four parts: Eros, affection, friendship and charity.

At this time, I am going to speak of the love/ affection I feel for my grandchildren. There is a warmth and comfort from being with them, this type of love is the most discriminating of love. I am not aware of when this affection began. It comes from familiarity, having the opportunity to live and enjoy watching their growth.

Affection taught me to notice, to endure, to smile, to enjoy and finally appreciate the differences in each of them. I have enjoyed every moment I have spent with them and I hope to continue this enjoyment the remainder of my life. Thank God for grandchildren and the experience of being a grandparent.
